Founded in 2007, Desert Pool Service & Construction was built on the vision of becoming a one-stop shop for all swimming pool and backyard needs. With over 50 years of combined experience, we proudly deliver expert pool and spa maintenance, repairs, and custom construction services throughout the North Valley.
Our team sets the bar high—each of our experienced technicians brings a minimum of five years of hands-on expertise, with several having over 30 years in the industry. This depth of experience ensures consistent, top-tier care and reliable service our clients can count on.
Desert Pools is a family-owned and operated business, led by Matt and Julie Poulson. Matt, the founder, holds both a B-5 General Swimming Pool Contractor License and an R-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair License, bringing broad expertise and high standards to every aspect of pool care and construction. 
Julie contributes more than 20 years of outstanding customer service experience. Married since 2014 and proud parents of twin boys, the Poulsons are deeply rooted in the community and committed to treating every client like family. In addition to pool services, we specialize in hardscaping, landscaping, artificial turf and putting greens, and custom water features—bringing complete backyard transformations to life from concept to completion. Whether you need weekly maintenance, a full pool remodel, or a total outdoor living upgrade, Desert Pools is here to create a beautiful, lasting escape in your own backyard.

Nate Scott
/ Vice President of Construction

Nate Scott serves as the Vice President of Construction at Desert Pools, bringing over 30 years of diverse and high-level construction experience to the team. Since beginning his career in 1992, Nate has successfully led a wide variety of projects ranging from residential remodels and detached garages to large-scale, multimillion-dollar custom home builds.

In 2005, Nate earned his General Residential Contractor (B) license and later obtained both his CR-6 (Swimming Pool Service and Repair) and B-5 (General Swimming Pool Contractor) licenses. Since entering the pool industry in 2016, Nate has overseen new pool construction and remodel projects totaling over $7 million—always driven by quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and results that exceed expectations.
Prior to joining Desert Pools, Nate spent five years working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). In this role, he managed, inspected, and administered government construction contracts totaling more than $300 million. 

During his tour in Afghanistan from 2012–2013, he was responsible for leading the DFIP project at Bagram Airfield—the highest-priority construction project in the country at the time. His leadership brought the project to completion ahead of schedule and on budget, earning him multiple honors including the Superior Civilian Service Award.

Following his deployment, Nate continued his federal service at the VA Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, where he was again the COR responsible for all construction on the campus. There, he managed over $150 million in projects, overseeing everything from contract development to field inspection. Nate’s deep technical knowledge, project management skills, and commitment to high standards make him an invaluable asset to the Desert Pools team. He’s passionate about the construction industry and takes pride in working closely with homeowners to transform their visions into reality—on time, on budget, and built to last.
